General Questions

Who are Champions for Children?

Champions for Children are community members who host fundraising events, assemble patient kits, and organize toy drives to raise support and awareness for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and the child health programs at Stanford University School of Medicine

What are online fundraising Pages?

Online fundraising pages are an opportunity for you to support our hospital’s mission by reaching out to your own network on our behalf. Personalize your page with your story, fundraising idea, and photos. You can email your friends and family, share on social media, track your donations, and thank your donors.

Fundraising Questions

How do I meet my fundraising goals?

Register your event to gain access to our tips, tools, and exclusive resources. Then, visit our resources page to get started!

Is there a minimum fundraising amount?

There is no minimum requirement—every dollar makes a difference. For first-time fundraisers, we suggest a goal of $250. We are always impressed by the work our fundraisers do, and they often exceed their fundraising goal! You can always increase your goal if you need to.

Where do the funds I raise go?

All funds donated through online fundraising pages go to support the Lucile Packard Children’s Fund unless you notify us otherwise. The Children’s Fund helps us provide vital services that are not covered by medical insurance but are critical to providing the best care to kids and expectant mothers. Learn more about the Children’s Fund and other here.

If you wish to designate the funds you raise to a specific department or area within our hospital, please contact us at Champions@lpfch.org.

Toys, Books, and Patient Kit Donation Questions

I would like to donate toys, stuffed animals, books, games, school supplies, arts and crafts, activity kits, care packages, or other items. Where can I find more information?

Please visit ChampionsLPCH.org/Toy-Drives for more information.

What items does the hospital accept?

Find our most-needed toys, games, and activity supplies on our Toy Donation Guidelines and Wish List.

If you are interested in hosting a group volunteer activity to assemble patient kits, check out our Patient Kit Guidelines for ideas!

Are there any restrictions for toy and book donations?

Check out our Toy Donation Guidelines, or visit the Toy Drives section of our website for the most up-to-date information on donation guidelines.

Please contact us for further details and clarification.

Is there a minimum toy donation amount?

Our hospital has around 300 inpatients at any given time, and our network had over 500,000 patient visits last year! That said, we are grateful for any donation you are able to make. We rely on the support of our generous community to bring smiles to our patients.

Can I personally deliver my donation to patients?

To control the spread of infection and to protect the privacy of our patients, we do not have opportunities for donors to present gifts directly to patients.

That said, we would love to meet you and your group at our hospital to make your donation! See below for further instructions for scheduling a donation visit.

Please contact us to schedule a donation drop-off.

During a drop-off meeting, we can gather outside of our hospital to speak to you and your group briefly about our hospital’s history, how your gifts will be used, and how our hospital relies on community support. We will present you and your group with a certificate of appreciation, and we can take a photo to commemorate you visit. We can also address any paperwork you have for community service hours at this time. The Champions Program cannot provide tours for kids under 18.

Alternatively, donations can be accepted at our hospital front desk. Find more information on hours and location at ChampionsLPCH.org/Toy-Drives.

How can I schedule a donation visit to bring toys, books, or patient kits to the hospital?

HOW CAN I SET UP A GROUP VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY?

Setting aside some time to assemble kits is a wonderful way to bring folks together to support our patients and families. For more information, visit ChampionsLPCH.org/Patient-Kits

Event Planning, Budget, and Marketing Questions

Will someone from the hospital or Foundation be present at my event?

Because of the large demand for clinical and support staff time, we cannot guarantee that someone will be able to attend your event to represent our hospital. However, each event is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Can the Champions Team help me with marketing and promoting my event?

The Champions Team is available to provide support and guidance in planning your event. Check out our Policies and Procedures for more information on how we can help!

Will the Foundation reimburse me for event expenses?

The Foundation does not fund or financially support third-party events. We ask that you limit costs to 50% to ensure your donors’ support reaches Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

Can I use my online fundraising page to sell goods or services, like tickets to an event?

All donations submitted through the Foundation’s online fundraising pages are treated as 100 percent tax deductible. You may not offer any goods or services in exchange for a gift to your page, as this will limit or preclude the tax deductibility of the gift.
